How do I book a tour or cruise through GetGo Travel?

Send us an inquiry through the product page or the contact form with your dates, group size, and any specific requests. A member of our team replies within one business day — usually sooner. We'll confirm availability, answer your questions, and send a final itinerary with a total quote. You book by paying the deposit; final payment comes closer to your travel date.

Question 2

What's the deposit and when is the balance due?

Our standard booking requires a 25% deposit to confirm your dates and reservations with operators. The remaining 75% is due 14 days before your trip starts. If you book within 14 days of your travel date, the full amount is due at booking. We'll always spell out the exact payment schedule in your confirmation email — no surprises.

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept international bank transfer and secure card payments for deposits and balances. For travelers already in Vietnam, we can also take cash or Vietnamese QR payment (VietQR) in our Hanoi office. All payment options go through verifiable channels — we don't use peer-to-peer apps or personal accounts. Your confirmation email includes the exact payment details for your booking.

Is my payment secure? How do I know you're a real agency?

Yes. We're a registered Vietnamese travel agency with a licensed office in Hanoi, a public team, and traceable company details. Payments go through regulated channels — we don't ask for transfers to personal accounts or unverified wallets. If you want to see our business registration, agency license, or office details before booking, just ask — we'll send them over.

Question 5

What's your cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellations are tiered:

- **More than 30 days before travel:** full refund minus a small processing fee.
- **15–30 days before travel:** 50% refund.
- **Less than 14 days before travel:** non-refundable, but we can often reschedule or move the deposit to a different date within 12 months.

If your cancellation is caused by flight disruption, illness, or a force majeure event, talk to us — we'll usually find a way to rebook rather than keep the money. The detailed policy is in your booking confirmation.

Who will I actually talk to about my trip?

A real member of our Hanoi-based team — not a chatbot, not a reseller in another country, not a virtual assistant. The person who replies to your first inquiry is usually the same person who handles your booking through to departure. If something happens during your trip, you call or message the same team. We believe travel agencies should be human-sized and relationship-driven, not faceless booking platforms.

How quickly do you respond to inquiries?

We aim to reply within one business hour during Hanoi office hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm ICT). Outside of those hours, we reply on the next working day. If something's urgent — a flight disruption, a same-day issue during your trip — we answer faster regardless of the hour. Our response time is a point of pride; we'd rather lose a booking than leave a traveler waiting.

What happens if something goes wrong during my trip?

You call our Hanoi office — the number is in your pre-trip brief and in every confirmation email. A real person picks up (during business hours, or on-call during weekends and evenings for travelers currently on trips). We call the operator, reroute the driver, swap the hotel, whatever the situation needs. This is what "booking with a local agency" actually buys you — the fix, not the apology.

Can I reach you on WhatsApp / Zalo / WeChat?

Yes. We use WhatsApp and Zalo for quick messages, and we're adding WeChat for Chinese-speaking travelers. Email is fine for longer-form questions and the confirmation paper trail; messaging is better for same-day logistics. Tell us which one you prefer and we'll stick to it.

What's typically included in a tour or cruise price?

Our trip quotes include: accommodation, guided activities as listed in the itinerary, private transfers between destinations, meals specified in the itinerary (typically breakfasts plus some lunches and dinners), entry fees to attractions, and an English-speaking guide per destination. We quote one all-in total — not a low headline plus a dozen add-ons. The itinerary document for your specific booking always lists what's in and what's out, line by line.

What's usually NOT included?

Typically excluded: international flights (we don't sell flights), visa fees, travel insurance (we strongly recommend you get it separately), tips for guides and drivers (optional but appreciated), personal expenses (drinks, laundry, spa, souvenirs), and meals not specifically listed in the itinerary. Your booking confirmation spells this out exactly so you can budget your discretionary spend.

Do you offer travel insurance?

We don't sell travel insurance ourselves — we think it's better bought in your home country, where a local provider can cover flight cancellations, medical evacuation, and trip disruption under your own healthcare system and currency. We strongly recommend you buy a policy before you leave. If you'd like, we can point you at providers that cover Vietnam travel well, based on what past travelers have used.

Do I need a visa to travel to Vietnam?

Most visitors need a visa or e-visa for Vietnam. Many passport holders (including US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian) can use Vietnam's official e-visa system — it's straightforward and costs around $25 USD. A few nationalities get visa exemptions for short stays. Check the current rules on the official Vietnam Immigration site closer to your travel date, and we'll remind you in your pre-trip checklist. We don't handle visa applications ourselves — we'd rather you use official channels than a third-party agent.

When's the best time of year to visit Vietnam?

Vietnam is a long country, so the answer depends on where you're going. In general: October to April is the drier, cooler season in the north (Hanoi, Ha Long, Sapa). The south (HCMC, Mekong) is tropical year-round with a wet season from May to October. Central Vietnam (Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue) is best between February and August. We send a detailed weather and packing brief for your specific dates and destinations once you book.

What's the currency? Should I bring cash or use cards?

Vietnam's currency is the đồng (VND). Cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger shops in cities; markets, smaller cafes, and rural areas are cash-only. ATMs are plentiful in cities — use bank-branded ones for better rates. We recommend traveling with a mix of cards and some cash for flexibility. Your guide can help exchange money or point you to safe ATMs on arrival.

Will I have internet access / can I buy a local SIM?

Yes. Vietnam has excellent 4G and 5G coverage in cities and most tourist areas, and WiFi is standard in hotels and many cafes. Local SIM cards are cheap and easy to buy at the airport on arrival — bring an unlocked phone. Most travelers use Viettel or Mobifone SIMs with ~10GB of data for under $10 USD. Your guide can help you pick one up if you'd rather not navigate the airport kiosks alone.

What should I pack? What about clothing for pagodas and temples?

Light layers for the north in winter months (Hanoi can be chilly), breathable fabrics for the south year-round, and comfortable walking shoes everywhere. For temples and pagodas, bring something that covers shoulders and knees — a light scarf or shirt works. Bring a raincoat or small umbrella if you're traveling in the wet season. We've personally sailed every cruise we sell, so the honest way to choose is: tell us who's travelling (couple, family, solo, older parents), what you care about (food, quiet, luxury, activities, photography), and your budget range. We'll shortlist 2–3 vessels and explain the real differences between them. Cabin category, route (Bai Tu Long vs Ha Long), and vessel size matter more than star rating on a booking site.

Can you customize a tour or build one from scratch?

Yes. Most of our travelers don't book a fixed catalogue itinerary — they send us a rough idea (cities, dates, interests, pace, budget) and we build a private trip around it. You can swap stops, adjust pace, add activities like cooking classes or hiking days, and shift start and end cities. We'll send a draft itinerary with pricing within a business day, then iterate until it fits.

Are your tours private or group tours?

Accepted Answer

The vast majority of our tours are private — your group is your group, with your own guide and driver. We occasionally run small-group trips on specific dates, and a few of our day trips are shared with other travelers to keep costs down. The product page always says which one it is, and the full trip quote confirms before you pay.

Question 22

Do your guides speak English / other languages?

All our guides speak English — it's the default. We also have Chinese-speaking guides in major cities and limited availability for Korean and Japanese speakers. Vietnamese is of course native. If you need a specific language, tell us when you inquire and we'll confirm guide availability before you commit to the booking.

How many people are in a group tour?

For our small-group tours, group size is typically 6–12 people maximum. We cap groups deliberately small to keep the experience personal — large bus tours aren't what we do. Private tours are of course just your group, whatever size you book.
